#paintEU arrives inside the walls of the Albergo dei Poveri, Department of the University of Genoa!
In November this year, an eight-panel mural was installed at the Albergo dei Poveri by @elenazecchin_ and commissioned by the University Student Association "Idee Giovani Unige".
The work is a visual and conceptual path, it is presented as a multiform fresco that embraces the fundamental pillars of human society (cultural wealth, social progress, peace, freedom of speech, justice, sustainability, equality and human rights). They complement each other and draw strength and vitality from mutual coexistence. Since its establishment in 2014, Giovani Unige has been campaigning to raise awareness of the fight against mafias and the fight against climate change: with this work we wanted to enclose these values through a more wide-ranging representation. It was decided to join the #painteu campaign to promote European values.
The graphic choice of the artist is a tribute to the place where the murals are located and the city of Genoa. The geometric configurations evoke the architectural openings of the Hotel dei Poveri; a choice with which the artist wanted to enhance this university, the central artery of the University of Genoa. The chromatic selection recalls the multiple shades, visual and conceptual, that characterize the soul of the city.
From a technical point of view, the realization of the work itself, inspired by the principles of sustainability and circular economy, becomes part of the message that you want to convey. The innovative Airlite paint used here is designed to remove bacteria and improve air quality in homes, offices and even hospitals. Such painting, through a photocatalysis process, improves air quality by reducing pollution.
Finally, thanks to @unigenova, financier of the project thanks to the ban on student cultural activities.
